Chelsea Deacon
I have always had an interest in creative subjects, and I am currently studying BA Fine Art degree at Grimsby Institute. I enjoy exploring different mediums from painting to detailed pencil portraits, lino printing and screen printing. There is a unifying interest in representing detail in my work which carries through subject matter and materials.
My initial interest was creating detailed water colour paintings which has now developed into an interest in screen printing. I enjoy combining photographs and drawings and then creating a screen print from that image. The main theme running through my work is capturing a particular moment in time - there are no posed figures involved in my work which adopts a more documentary approach using combinations of photographs and drawing and creating collages. Pop art is a strong influence in my work, in particular Andy Warhol and Richard Hamilton, with Warhol's use of vibrant colours and Hamilton's use of collages. While I use a variety of different mediums in my work the use of colour is consistent. Whether I create a painting drawing or screen print I always work with vibrant colour.
I will continue exploring a variety of mediums and researching in various ways, which will help me find new areas of interest and will lead me to the next body of work.
