Kirsty Lidgard
Having supported young people with special educational needs at the Grimsby School of Art my passion for art was re-ignited. I have an interest in creating texture, working in heavy pastel, the mark making, a physical relationship with filling the paper.
I am influenced by artists like Toulouse Lautrec who created images in oil, that resembled chalky pastel drawings and today's artist such as Rosie McClelland, her landscapes are rich and textural.
My work implies a sense of space, with themes of nature, at times becoming more abstracted. I continue to enjoy exploring various techniques, trying out different ground and materials. More recently I have been investigating with palette knife painting.
My ambitions are to be able to create an image that shows competent technique. I am currently on a journey of discovery, developing other areas to broaden my practice.
